BIOS Configuration Menu Will Not Load

I ran into a really weird problem the other day where I could not get into the Motherboard BIOS configuration menu. The system would boot just fine, but if I pressed DEL to access the BIOS, the system would just hang after the post and just before it would normally enter the BIOS screen. At first the Promise card BIOS was stuck on the screen. When we removed that card, the SCSI-320 BIOS was then stuck on the screen.

Specs:

  • Asus Motherboard
  • 4 GB of DDR2-800 Ram
  • Promise Ultra133TX2
  • SCSI 320, with 160GB HD and 2 tape drives.
  • Nvidia PCIe Video Card.

Solution

After unplugging almost all hard drives, the problem still existed. We were finally able to narrow it down to the 160GB SCSI hard drive. As soon as we unplugged the SCSI hard drive, the BIOS config screen loaded.
